Mariam Gujejiani

Hello, I’m Mariam Gujejiani, I was born in the late 90s in Tbilisi and grew up with four brothers, the only sister. Mother, happy with a girl, took me to singing, piano and dancing from the age of 6 (there was nothing else nearby). At the age of 14, my happy childhood ended with the death of my older brother. I was enrolled in the theological institute, where I completed the study of Christian art, and here I got to know and love the great culture of our country. After a few years, I decided to learn more about culture in general and continued my studies at the Tbilisi Academy of Arts for a master’s degree in cultural studies, here I realized that culture is created by each of us, who choose our path correctly and do what we do with love, and my path was connected to music since childhood. From there, when my father and my grandmother sang together with all our hearts, I realized that the thing that makes me happy and forgets all spiritual pain is singing and chanting, our greatest and richest tradition. A few years later, I fulfilled my dream of learning more about our intangible culture and enrolled in the theater department, where I am currently in my second year.
My story with Ialoni began two years ago, when a friend (Lika Liparteliani), who was now famous at the time, took me to a rehearsal. I was very happy because I knew the quality of this ensemble over the years. We are like a family, we spend most of our time together for one thing, we grow together professionally and we make interesting discoveries in our abilities by singing in different genres.
When I’m not singing and have time I enjoy cooking, cooking and entertaining my large family, I also try my hand at art and apprentice my husband to make wall and floor mosaics.
